WV Licensure Resources and Action Items | 1/15/2022

As you know, the West Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (WVAND) with your help has been working hard to ensure we keep dietetic licensure (information to WVAND Public Policy page). HB 3035 to sunset dietetic licensure was introduced to the House Government Organization Committee on Wednesday. There are many steps in this process. Next the bill can “die" in committee (this happened last year) OR be brought forward to the House for voting.

We need send letters and call members House Government Organization Committee to let them know our concerns.

Legislators are under the assumption that West Virginia Board of Licensed Dietitians (WVOBLD) is duplicative of the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). This is not the case.

WE NEED YOU TO TAKE ACTION!

Adapt template letter about CDR/WVBOLD, attach the informational flier, and send to the legislators on the list below. The letter should go to all of them but if you are at least able to send it to delegates in your county (home/employment) that would help.
Calling helps too even if you have to leave a messagee.

The good news is that WE ARE BEING HEARD!!! Our “chirping” is working – legislators are talking about us. We need to continue to keep the issue forefront.

On another note, due to forecasted weather, we are postponing EatRight WV Day scheduled for January 17 and hope to identify a new date soon.
