WVAND Foundation

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation (ANDF) was established in 1966 and is the only charitable organization devoted only to promoting nutrition and dietetics.

The Foundation's mission is advancing public health and nutrition utilizing the expertise of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists.

The Foundation's vision is that everyone has the understanding and ability to Eat Right.

The Foundation Matters! It provides those entering or practicing in the nutrition and dietetic realm with scholarships, awards and monies for food and nutrition research. The Foundation is also not just working for today, but also working for the future by providing funding for Kids Eat Right (http://www.eatright.org/resources/for-kids/) and The Energy Balance for Kids with Play program.

The Foundation is also the founder of the Future of Food Initiative. Through the Future of Food program, Registered Dietitians are tackling food insecurity at home and healthy food systems to safely and nutritiously feed a growing world population.

A new movement the Foundation is involved with is the Second Century of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. For the past 100 years, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has been dedicated to building a profession that optimizes health through food and nutrition. The Second Century represents a moment to continue the conversation and take action with those who are at the forefront of creating positive global change by improving access to healthful food and driving innovation to health and nutrition strategies globally.

The West Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (WVAND) Foundation is an affiliate of the ANDF and follows the same mission and vision. Each year, the WVAND Foundation raises monies for the Foundation. In 2018, the WVAND Foundation raised over $1,400 for the Foundation. Fundraising efforts were highlighted on the website's "Recipient Spotlight" by ANDF. https://eatrightfoundation.org/2018/04/foundation-fundraising-champion-shares-why-she-raises-funds/

Each year the WVAND Foundation hosts a prize drawing/silent auction at the Annual Conference to raise monies for the ANDF. To donate an item for the drawing please contact Haley Whiteman via email at whiteman4@marshall.edu or by phone, 304-545-6289. NO monies are accepted, ONLY items for the drawing.
